Our Team

The wind is strong – and so is our crew.

We’re not just a team – we’re locals, friends, and ocean souls.
Each member of Paradise Kite School grew up with the wind as their teacher and the sea as their playground. We share one mission:
🫶 To teach, support, inspire – and make your kite journey unforgettable.

Nelson – Founder & Owner

“I learned to kite before there were schools – just wind, water, and curiosity.”
Nelson is the soul of Paradise. At just 12 years old, he became the first local person to kitesurf in Cabo de la Vela, teaching himself with borrowed gear and pure determination.
In 2018, he founded Paradise Kite School to share his passion with the next generation of local riders.
A year later, he entered his first international competition, representing La Guajira on a global stage.

When the rain comes to Cabo, Nelson packs his board and explores the world – chasing wind, waves, and new stories.

Larry – Instructor / Instructor

“When I’m on the water, I feel completely free.”
Larry grew up watching his older brothers fly over the waves – and he couldn’t wait to join them.
He learned kitesurfing from his family, and today he’s one of the most experienced instructors at Paradise, teaching in both Spanish and English for over five years.

Larry brings pure energy to every session. He’s all about pushing limits, trying new tricks, and making sure his students have as much fun as he does.
If someone’s flipping through the air or riding with crazy style – that’s probably him.

Casia – Instructor

“The faster I go, the bigger my smile.”
Casia is pure girl power on the water. She learned kitesurfing from her brothers, but quickly found her own style: fast, focused, and full of flow.
She’s a passionate kite racer, competing in speed events and carving across the flat water like lightning. At Paradise, she teaches in both Spanish and English, and is known for her calm, positive vibe. Whether you’re nervous or stoked, Casia will make you feel confident, supported – and always smiling.

Mauricio – Beach Assistant & Repair Master

“If something breaks, I fix it. If you need help, I’m already there.”
Mauricio has been part of Paradise Kite School for over 4 years, and he’s the kind of person who keeps everything running smoothly – often without you even noticing.

He’s always around to help you set up, launch or land your kite, and to make sure your gear is safe and ready.
And if something breaks? No worries – Mauricio is the repair expert. From torn kites to tangled lines, he’s got the skills to get you back in the water fast.He teaches in Spanish, and brings a calm, friendly presence to the beach every day.
Reliable. Skilled. Always there with a quiet smile.

Alex – Young Rider & Beach Helper

“One day I’ll be the one teaching – for now, I’m learning everything I can.”
Alex is the youngest member of the Paradise team – still in school, but already full of kite spirit.
During his school holidays, you’ll always find him at the beach, helping out wherever he can.

He loves going out on the water, watches every session with wide eyes, and is always ready to help you set up your gear or land your kite with a big smile. He’s part of the next generation of local riders, growing up with wind in his hair and sand between his toes.

We are Paradise. Locals, riders, friends.

More than instructors – we are your kite family in La Guajira.
